TIP:
Properly Addressing Your Wedding Invitations
Properly addressing the envelopes of your wedding invitation requires following a few rules of etiquette. First, you should never print out mailing labels for your wedding invitations. Rather, all of the addresses should be handwritten and should not contain abbreviations, except for
when it comes to abbreviating the name of the state. Therefore, words such as "Street" and "Avenue" should be spelled out completely on the envelope.
You should also follow certain rules of etiquette when it comes to naming the invited guests on the envelope. For married couples, you should address the invitation to both members by writing something such as "Mr. and Mrs. John Doe." If you are inviting a couple that is not
married but lives together, both names should be included but placed on separate lines such as:
Ms. Jane Smith and
Mr. John Doe
If you are inviting an entire family, on the other hand, something such as "Mr. and Mrs. John Doe and Family" will communicate that the children are invited to attend.
