What am I supposed to do with the little piece of tissue included in my wedding invitations?

This tissue was traditionally included in wedding invitations to prevent the ink from smearing. Of course, with advances in technology, this is no longer a problem. You might still, however, choose to include the tissue as a matter of tradition. In this case, it should be placed over the engraving or the printing inside the card.

If there are many enclosures included with the invitation, it should be put together like this:

  • The response card is placed inside the invitation.
  • If needed, the map is included inside the invitation
  • The ungummed envelope holds the actual invitation and other enclosures
  • The envelope containing the invitation is placed inside the outer envelop and faces the flap
  • If a gold seal or sticker is included, it goes on the back of the outside envelope
